Lychee Chicken Roll

I think a couple of months back I saw a commercial foodie review. There's one restaurant serving a quite interesting appetizer what so they called it as pan seared bacon lychee. I've been planning for that since then and finally did it in my way. Well, not exactly my way! It's actually I couldn't find some nice bacon slices here, in my living area, so have to use chicken meat sliced.

And here's what I did.

Ingredients :

1 whole chicken breast
15 Lychee, canned
7-8 slices ham/chicken meat loaf, halved
(I used 'Ayamas' chicken meat loaf)
some toothpicks

Seasoning :
salt & pepper
2 tbsp honey
2 tspn light soy sauce
2 tspn sesame oil
Method :
- slice chicken meat and flatten it.
- marinade flattened chicken meat with all the seasoning and leave to rest for about 1/2 hour.

- cut ham about the size of the chicken meat.
- wrap lychee with a slice of ham and then follow with a slice of chicken meat.
- insert the meat to a toothpick so that everything will stick in one place.
- pan fried the meat roll over medium low heat with butter & a little cooking oil untill cooked.
- serve hot.

Olala.... I'm drooling! The sweet & juicy lychee spilt out immediately from my mouth on just one bite..... chewing against the ham and flavourful chicken sliced.... Just imagine stuffing your mouth full with all those yummilious meat & fruit. Frankly, one will never enough for me! Guess, I have to double up the ingredients. haha.....

  1. looks yummy and seem easy to prepare too. Kristy, thanks for sharing, going to bookmark it :).

  2. I'm drooling too, Kristy! :)

  4. Such delicious flavors together Kristy! I would love to try it with bacon...mmmm.

  5. The flavors you've combined here are wonderful. I can only imagine how good this must taste. I hope you are having a great day. Blessings...Mary

  6. sounds delicious ,kristy,wonderful idea!

  7. I thought ur family dun take red meat??? Then even if you find bacon then how? Still have to use chicken, right? Or you planned to go "act dunno" about the bacon when you serve to them?

Jusco have nice bacons la, go to their non-halal section. Got smoked and non smoked... I just bought some bacon chips yesterday.

  8. I'm looking forward to make this... it looks superdelicious and really simple to make one on my own! Thanks for sharing, Kristy!

    Have a lovely week ahead!

  9. First off...the dish looks fantastic...however, for me personally...I've never been a fan of Lychee...even though most of my friends love them! I'll pass your recipe along ;o)

  13. Kristy I don't know what happened to my first comment, I thought I was so early in commenting too!

Are you sure you used 15 toothpicks? Lol! It was funnier the first time around! hehe! I just picked up some fresh lychees at our farmer's market Sat. I used to have a Lychee tree out front of my house when I lived in HI. I would grab a handful on my way out the door. This was my daughter's first time trying a lychee...she really likes them, I had to get a picture! :D So I had to show her this post...funny about the timing!

This looks so I have to go out and get 15 toothpicks :D

Hope you had a great weekend. (I think that happened to you before where I didn't get one of your comments) hope you get this one!

  14. This looks great. I thought your idea of rolling the lychee with ham and chicken are luscious. Great photos by the way, making me more hungry.

  15. Looks beautiful and yummy. Great finger food!

  16. Lyndz : The toothpicks! It depends how many chicken slice you can get from slicing the meat(also the size of the chicken breast). If you get more than that then you need more. Or maybe you can also use bamboo sticks. As long as something that can hold the meat together! Btw, glad that finally you got in. I hope Maranda will love it.

Madin : Thank you very much. Glad that you like it too.

Penny : Wanna join me! hehe.... Have fun at your taco's party.

Thank you so much for spending your time here, dear friends.

Hope you'll enjoy the recipe too and have a wonderful day.

    Cheers, Kristy

  40. HELLO,

I wonder what's happening to the comments! I lost 15 comments from here. How could that happened? =o(

  41. lychee chicken roll sounds so delicious and really interesting recipe.. good one

  42. I stir-fried chicken with lychee before and yours in a wrap certainly looks deliciously tempting.

  43. Another great concoction Kristy. I think I like the chicken meat version more that the bacon. One or two pieces of the bacon wrap would be good. But I can eat a lot more chicken wrap ones :)

  44. Very nice cocktail food! I must give this a try. Thanks for sharing :)

  45. Lychee and chicken - sounds like an awesome combination of flavors!
